SHOPPERS DRUG MART ROBBERY SUSPECT CAUGHT IN CONSTANCE LAKE FIRST NATION PDF Print E-mail

A combined effort between Kingston Police Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) and Nishnawbe Aski Police Service (NAPS) Constance Lake Detachment has led to the arrest of the Shoppers Drug Mart Robbery suspect.

On January 12, 2017 at approximately 10:19 p.m. the accused entered the Shoppers Drug Mart at 1101 Princess Street. The accused went to the pharmacy counter and demanded drugs while brandishing a knife. The accused then walked behind the counter and demanded fentanyl patches. When an employee yelled out to call 911, the accused fled the store.

Kingston Police released photos of the suspect and his phone requesting assistance from the public in identifying the man. Kingston Police CIB received information that the accused a 24-year-old man of no fixed address was in Constance Lake First Nation. On January 17, 2017, Kingston Police CIB contacted NAPS Constance Lake Detachment. Further investigation by NAPS revealed the location of the accused in Constance Lake First Nation, where he was arrested.

The accused was remanded into custody and transported to Cochrane, Ontario where the Kingston Police CIB took custody of him for court in Kingston, Ontario on January 20, 2017.

The accused is charged with robbery, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and carry a concealed weapon.
