CIVILIAN (NON-UNION) VACANCY HUMAN RESOURCES ASSISTANT

GENERAL: The Nishnawbe Aski Police Service requires one (1) civilian to fill the full-time permanent non-union position of Human Resources Assistant at General Headquarters in Thunder Bay, ON.


PURPOSE: Reporting to the Human Resources Advisor, the Human Resources Assistant will handle a variety of personnel related administrative duties including but not limited to the areas of; recruitment and retention, labour relations and health and safety.


QUALIFICATIONS:
- Diploma or Degree in Human Resources or Business Administration
- A minimum of 2 years Human Resources experience (unionized environment is preferred);
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent organization skills;
- Ability to work independently;
- Basic knowledge of the Labour Relations Act, Employment Standards Act, Ontario Human Rights Act, Accessibility for Ontarians with Disability Act and the Ontario Health and Safety Act is required
- Previous experience in a non-profit or Indigenous organization is considered an asset.


REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to travel on short notice by all modes of transportation to urban and remote northern communities is required;
- Must be able to pass a background check and produce a clean criminal record check including the vulnerable sector screen.
