NAPS SEIZES CRACK COCAINE IN NORTH SPIRIT LAKE FIRST NATION

(North Spirit Lake, ON)  On February 15, 2020, a search warrant was executed under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act by the Nishnawbe Aski Police (NAPS) Intelligence Unit, the NAPS Drug Enforcement Unit, the NAPS Emergency Response Team and the North Spirit Lake Detachment Uniform Members in the First Nation community of North Spirit Lake.  The warrant was executed as part of an ongoing investigation and resulted in several people being charged.

Police seized pre-packaged Crack Cocaine along with approximately three thousand fifty ($3.050.00) dollars in Canadian Currency.  The total northern street value of the drugs was approximately nine thousand six-hundred fifty ($9.650.00) dollars.

A 19 year-old female from North Spirit Lake was charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking, Possession of the Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime, and three counts of Fail to Comply with a Recognizance.

A 24 year-old female from Peguis, Manitoba was charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking and Possession of the Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime.

A 31 year-old female from North Spirit Lake was charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking and Possession of the Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime.

A 54 year-old male from North Spirit Lake was charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking and Possession of the Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime.

All four individuals were subsequently released on conditions and will next appear in court on August 31, 2020 in North Spirit Lake.

North Spirit Lake First Nation is located approximately 550 km northwest of Thunder Bay.
